Job summary

Regions Bank is hiring a Mainframe Systems Engineer in Hoover, AL, to install, maintain, and optimize mainframe operating systems ensuring stability, performance, and security. You will troubleshoot complex issues, document configurations, and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.

The role requires a strong background in ZOS, CICS, MQ, DB2, and related tools, with on-call availability and adherence to risk and change management standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of mainframe infrastructure experience or 10 years on a related track.
• Experience installing and supporting mainframe products including ZOS, CICS, MQ, DB2, Storage, Automation, ZLINUX, or Networking.
• Experience with problem determination, outage handling, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and vendor support coordination.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates system specifications, I/O processes, and parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
• Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues in mainframe systems and applications.
• Administers, configures, and maintains mainframe systems including hardware, OS, and software components.
• Monitors and tunes mainframe environments to maintain stability and performance.
• Maintains installation records documenting configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Develops backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Covers on-call 24x7 rotating for problem resolution and Sev1 incidents.
• Ensures compliance with risk management, cybersecurity practices, and change management.
