Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Mainframe Modernization Architect to shape modernization strategies for large global clients, bridging legacy mainframe environments with modern platforms. The role involves client-facing leadership, discovery workshops, and executive presentations, working with Sales, Consulting, and Product Management.

Location is remote for US-based candidates, with compensation in the range of $156,000–$210,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer sciences
• 20+ years of experience as an architect in hosting and network, preferably with a service provider
• 12+ years as a Modernization or Migration Architect, leading legacy system upgrades
• Hands-on experience with mainframe application migration and legacy modernization projects
• 15+ years of expertise across the mainframe technology stack, including COBOL, Natural, Adabas, and more

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Sales and Consulting teams to create strategies for large global clients
• Conduct discovery workshops to drive deeper client engagement
• Develop solutions that meet both technical and business requirements for client transformation
• Present technical solutions and business cases to diverse audiences
• Engage in executive discussions to gain buy-in for complex solutions
• Act as a trusted advisor, providing consultation based on technology expertise
• Partner with Product Management to influence product enhancements

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Mainframe Modernization Architect to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will shape modernization strategies for large global clients, helping bridge legacy mainframe environments with more modern technology platforms. The architect will work closely with Sales, Consulting, and Product Management to design solutions that align technical feasibility with business objectives. The position also calls for strong client-facing leadership, including discovery workshops, executive presentations, and trusted-advisor consultation.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $156,000 – $210,000 annually
