Job summary

ensono is seeking a hands-on mainframe engineer in the United States to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise mainframe applications within a managed-services environment. You will act as a technical lead guiding junior teammates while ensuring stability and continuous improvement of critical systems.

The role requires 3–5 years of mainframe experience with COBOL/JCL/CICS/DB2/VSAM, strong problem-solving, and excellent communication skills. US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of specialized mainframe development, support, and maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM, with SDLC knowledge.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• US citizenship or permanent residency required.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills; familiarity with version control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
• Work within enterprise ticketing platforms to manage incidents, service requests, and change requests across both waterfall and agile projects
• Lead complex troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and integration issue resolution
• Tune application performance and optimize database queries
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, knowledge-base articles, and SOPs
• Translate functional and technical requirements into implementation options aligned with business needs
