Job summary

Galent is hiring a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead hands-on development for enterprise-grade applications. You will work with COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL, and related tools to implement and sustain batch and online processing.

Ideal candidates have 4–9 years of mainframe experience, strong testing discipline, and the ability to collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders in an Agile setting. Dallas-based role with on-site work.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
• 4-9 years of relevant enterprise software development experience.
• Hands-on mainframe development skills in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL, IBM Utilities, FileAID, Endevor, SQL, Debuggers, Schedulers, and IOMs.
• Ability to perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancements in batch and online environments.
• Experience designing, deploying, and supporting releases into production.
• Strong data security skills and thorough testing discipline.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on mainframe development in COBOL/CICS/DB2/VSAM/JCL on enterprise apps.
• Analyze maintenance and enhancement requirements for batch and online systems.
• Design, deploy and support software releases to production.
• Investigate high-severity production issues and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders in Agile environments.

• Hands-on mainframe development skills in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL, IBM Utilities, FileAID, Endevor, SQL, Debuggers, Schedulers, and IOMs.
• Ability to perform hands-on detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects in batch and online environments.
• Experience designing, deploying, and supporting software releases into production environments.
• Strong data security skills and thorough unit, functional, and regression testing discipline.
• Experience handling high severity/critical production issues and identifying root causes.
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders.
