Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking a Mainframe Developer to support and modernize critical enterprise applications in an IBM z/OS environment. You will design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs and batch-processing jobs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive modernization initiatives.

The role requires strong problem-solving skills, experience with JCL, DB2/SQL, and exposure to CICS. You will contribute to SDLC activities and provide production support as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Mainframe Development experience.
• Experience with JCL and batch processing.
• Working knowledge of DB2 and SQL.
• Experience with or exposure to CICS environments.
• Understanding of the SDLC and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to read and enhance legacy code and collaborate well.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance applications in an IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
• Develop and support COBOL programs, JCL jobs, and batch-processing applications.
• Work with DB2 databases, including SQL development and data retrieval.
• Analyze business requirements and implement enhancements and fixes.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and performance issues.
• Review logs and abends to identify root causes and resolve issues.
• Participate in unit, integration, and regression testing.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and support procedures.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams.
• Contribute to mainframe modernization and integration initiatives.
