Job summary

Chandra Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mainframe Developer to design, develop, test, and support enhancements to existing mainframe applications for North Dakota programs.

You will work hands-on with COBOL, Natural, JCL and databases such as ADABAS and DB2, with Oracle familiarity a plus. The role emphasizes translating business needs into technical solutions, thorough documentation, Agile collaboration, and a shared on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mainframe development in enterprise settings.
• Proficient in COBOL and Natural development.
• Strong knowledge of JCL, batch processing, and error handling.
• Experience with ADABAS and DB2; Oracle familiarity a plus.
• Familiarity with Oracle concepts and SQL tooling.
• Experience with mainframe CI/CD and change tools (Endevor/ChangeMan/ISPW).
• Exposure to job scheduling platforms (Control-M/CA-7/TWS).
• State government or regulated industry experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and translate them into practical technical designs.
• Create and update design documentation and walk through with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain programs using COBOL and Natural; troubleshoot JCL.
• Produce test scenarios and perform unit, system, and acceptance testing.
• Participate in peer reviews and maintain runbooks and deployment notes.
• Provide production support in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
