Job summary

A leading technology solutions provider is seeking an experienced Mainframe Specialist to analyze, design, and document business requirements. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of Mainframe experience, including proficiency in COBOL and JCL, and strong knowledge of SDLC processes. Responsibilities include preparing testing strategies and providing post-production support. Knowledge of the mortgage domain is preferable. This is a full-time role based in McLean, VA.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of Mainframe experience including various tools and languages.
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe and IMS, experience preferred.
• Well-versed with SDLC and Agile processes.

Duration: contract or full time

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and document Business Requirements; prepare functional specifications, System Module Specification documents.
• Prepare Testing Strategy, Technical design, unit test plans, and System Integration Test plans.
• Deploy code in Production and provide post‑Production support.
• Communicate and coordinate with technical and functional teams; demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Provide Level of Effort (LOE) estimates and prepare dashboard reports to meet customer standards.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of Mainframe experience, including COBOL, IMS DB, DATAVAN, JCL, SAS, REXX, EASYTRIEVE, JOB TRAC, CA‑View (SAR), ISPW, File‑AID, DB2, SPUFI, VSAM, and IBM utilities.
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe and IMS, and experience with all listed skills.
• Mortgage domain knowledge is preferred.
• Well‑versed with full SDLC and/or Agile processes.
• Experience in Mainframe (COBOL/JCL/DB2/IMS/CICS) is mandatory.
