Job summary
Insight Global is seeking a hands-on COBOL Programmer to support and maintain critical IBM Mainframe applications. The role focuses on application support, enhancements, and break-fix work within an established environment, with an emphasis on ramping up quickly and preserving institutional knowledge.
Candidates with supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, transportation, warehousing, or insurance experience are highly preferred.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of COBOL development experience.
- Experience with IBM mainframe tools and environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting production mainframe applications.
- Proficiency in JCL, DB2, VSAM, and TSO/ISPF.
- Experience with Endevor, Changeman or similar source control tools.
- Ability to quickly learn and support existing applications.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain existing IBM Mainframe applications.
- Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot COBOL programs and JCL jobs.
- Investigate production issues, abends, and batch failures.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement fixes.
- Support production releases and application enhancements.
- Collaborate with business users, analysts, and technical teams.
- Assist with knowledge transfer and documentation efforts.
- Help ensure application stability across critical business systems.
