Sargent is seeking an experienced Field Maintenance Foreman to lead a mobile team of field mechanics across New England. You will direct repairs on active jobsites, set priorities, and coordinate with project teams to prevent downtime while balancing safety and quality.
In this field-first leadership role you’ll mentor technicians, participate in hiring decisions, and maintain service records, aiming for fast response and reliable equipment during busy construction cycles across the region.
Sargent is looking for an experienced Field Maintenance Foreman to lead equipment repair and support across our active jobsites throughout New England. This is a field-first leadership role: you'll direct a team of field mechanics who repair and maintain heavy equipment right on the jobsite rather than in a shop, set priorities as breakdowns and service needs come in, and coordinate with project teams so equipment issues get resolved without stalling work. You'll turn a wrench yourself when it counts — on the tough calls or when field capacity requires it — but day to day, you're managing people, priorities, and the response to field service calls across the region.
You'll report to the Equipment Superintendent – North, who is your direct supervisor and the person you'll go to for cross-project priorities and support — but day to day, you'll coordinate directly with job superintendents and foremen on active projects, so equipment issues get resolved at the speed the jobsite needs. You'll also work closely with the Shop Foreman – North, Dispatch, and OEM/dealer service partners to keep our crews running.
Primarily outdoors on active construction jobsites, in all New England seasonal weather conditions, with regular exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and jobsite traffic. Requires lifting and carrying tools and parts (up to 50 lbs. regularly, more with mechanical or fellow employee-owner assistance), working in varied positions (standing, kneeling, overhead, and under equipment) for extended periods, and traveling independently between jobsites throughout the workday.
Sargent has built infrastructure across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic since 1926, when founder Herbert E. Sargent started with a single dump truck in Alton, Maine. Nearly a century later, that same hands‑on, get‑it‑done spirit drives a full‑service heavy civil contractor working on airports, highways, landfills, renewable energy sites, and municipal infrastructure from Maine to Virginia and North Carolina.
Sargent became 100% employee‑owned in 2013. Today, more than 650 employee‑owners share directly in the company's success — and have a real stake in how the work gets done.
