Job summary

Snohomish County PUD #1 is seeking a part-time mailroom clerk to support multiple district offices. The role involves sorting and delivering inter-office mail, preparing supply deliveries, and coordinating courier services.

The position requires a High School diploma, at least six months of clerical experience, a valid Washington driver’s license, and the ability to lift 55 lbs. Forklift training is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Forklift training completed.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and deliver inter-office mail.
  • Fill and deliver supply requests.
  • Pickup from and deliver mail to the U.S. Post Office.
  • Apply postage to and process mail.
  • Answers phones and assists employees and vendors.
  • Access vendor websites such as UPS and FedEx to prepare trackable deliveries.
  • Answer warehouse door and assist drivers with deliveries.
  • Drive to deliver and pick up mail from district offices.
  • Receive address update information from USPS.
  • Emergency backup of print shop operations.

This position is part-time, with weekly hours subject to change according to operational requirements. At present, we estimate a commitment of approximately 25 hours per week.

Job Definition

Assists and performs various departmental functions including (but not limited to): sorting and delivery of internal and external mail, delivery of internal supplies, preparation of special mailings, maintaining department warehouse, operation of mailroom equipment and computer systems, preparation of departmental reports, and coordinating purchase of departmental items.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Three (3) levels exist within this position. This position is a step progression with time requirements and with more responsibility assigned as experience is gained.

Essential Job Functions
  • Sortand delivers inter-office mail.
  • Filland deliversupply requests.
  • Pickup from and delivers mail to the U.S. Post Office.
  • Applypostage to and processmail.
  • Answers phones and assists employees, vendors, etc.
  • Accessvendor websites such as UPS and FedEx to prepare trackable deliveries such as overnight and ground letters/packages.
  • Answer warehouse door and assist drivers with deliveries.
  • Drive to deliver and pick up mail from various District offices.
  • Receive address update information from U.S. post office website, reviews and enters address updates.
  • Perform emeregency backup of bill print and inserter operation for the Print Shop.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Customer relations, including communication techniques and skills.

Ability to:

Sort and deliver mail.

Lift and move up to 55 lbs. on a daily basis. (Demonstrated)

Keyboarding skill at 35 words per minute.

Be flexible for cross-training and reassignment as required to meet department needs.

Be flexible to work shift hours as required to meet department needs.

Interact and communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors and outside agencies. (Demonstrated)

Experience/Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six (6) months office/clerical experience or related education.
License/Certification

Valid Washington State Driver's License, with good driving record.

Successful demonstration of ability to lift and move 55 lbs.

Successful completion of typing test at 35 words per minute.

Successful completion of interview process.

Successful completion of forklift training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic word processing/PC experience.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office environment.

Driving is required to other locations in all types of weather conditions.

Incumbents may be exposed to loud noises caused by machines in the print shop.

Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 55 lbs. on a daily basis.

Must be able to load and unload items out of District vehicles on a dialy basis.

Must be able to push and pull a heavy mail cart on a daily basis.
