The University of Virginia seeks a Mail Clerk to assist in a busy mailroom. The Mail Clerk serves as part of a team and works closely together daily with students, carriers, and mailroom staff. The mailroom provides services for over 6,000 on-grounds students. The ideal candidate is proficient using a computer, reliable, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent customer service skills. Mail Clerks pick up, receive, sort and distribute external mail and packages. They operate and maintain mailroom equipment and vehicles. Work is assigned at the task level and performed under direct supervision. Mail Clerks work in direct contact with members of the University community including students, staff and faculty.
This position will require a significant amount of standing while sorting mail, etc. Additionally, lifting mail, carrying mail, etc is required, as well as keyboarding.
