Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Novi, MI is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate the MRI scanner, position patients, and produce high-quality cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes. This is a nights, part-time role with 20 hours per week in a rotating schedule.

You will follow radiation safety protocols, manage PACS transfers, and maintain equipment in a busy radiology department. Eligible candidates include ARRTMRI or equivalent credentials and BLS; a sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Credentialing required: ARRT (MRI) or NMTCB or ARRT Radiography or ARDMS within 12 months; ARMRIT acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Operate an MRI scanner to obtain images for diagnosis and treatment.
• Prepare and position patients, selecting parameters to produce cross-sectional images.
• Perform pre-screening, scheduling, and patient education for examinations.
• Enter and monitor patient data; transfer images from disk to PACS and develop images as needed.
• Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure high-quality image submission to PACS with correct markers and data.
• Ensure equipment is functioning and report malfunctions.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, orderly department and storage areas.

Job Description

Up to $5,000 sign on bonus!
Shift: Nights, PT 20 hours per week, midnight shift 6pm-4am rotating on-call, rotating weekends and some holidays

• Operate a scanner to obtain images used to diagnose and treat of pathologies.
• Prepare and position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
• Perform patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
• Enter and monitor patient data, transfer images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develop film in an automatic processor.
• Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
• Ensure equipment is properly functioning.
• Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. No additional preferences.

Certification/Licences Required

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
