Job Summary

Responsible for the independent operation of MRI equipment, achieving high-quality images, maintaining optimal patient care, and working with patients of all ages. Responsible for screening all patients and staff entering zones 3 and 4 to ensure magnet safety.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Perform procedures proficiently, maintaining high quality through proper positioning, coil selection, and knowledge of protocols. Complete imaging studies timely, charge appropriately, and deliver to radiologists promptly.
  • Identify patients with two identifiers. Communicate about MR safety questionnaires and clinical history. Obtain completed questionnaires and ensure magnet safety. Communicate sedation needs and delays to staff and patients.
  • Prepare scan rooms using approved protocols. Discard sharps properly and maintain supplies and linens.
  • Prepare and administer contrast materials within scope and protocol.
  • Implement emergency procedures as needed.
  • Perform relevant computer functions accurately and promptly.
  • Conduct quality control tasks to meet standards.
  • Stay updated on organizational changes via email.
  • Provide clinical instruction to staff and students. Assist in staffing and workflow coordination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Certification from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Experience: No experience required.

In Lieu Of

  • Current staff as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from minimum requirements pending state and regulatory compliance.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARRT in Radiology & MRI OR ARRT in MRI OR ARMRIT certification.
  • BLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including data entry and database management.
  • Mathematical skills.
