Job description

Radiologic Technologist / FT / Days / Pain Clinic / No Holidays / Rare Saturday

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
  2. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations; obtains additional patient medical history as necessary.
  3. Prepares the procedure room and replenishes stock such as linens and supplies.
  4. Analyzes anatomical structures, sets up equipment, and performs radiologic procedures, using patient immobilization as needed.
  5. Selects and administers intravenous contrast media, monitors for reactions, and provides immediate care if reactions occur.
  6. Performs imaging procedures following radiation protection principles, including shielding, equipment settings, and ALARA techniques.
  7. Prepares sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies for procedures, following infection control practices and ensuring proper storage.
  8. Completes worksheets, logs, patient records, and documentation accurately.
  9. Mentors and educates new hires and students while maintaining own responsibilities.
  10. Resolves image exceptions in PACS, ensures high-quality image delivery, and confirms image/series counts.
  11. Completes study indexing in RIS, including study start and end times.
  12. Reviews clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
  13. Demonstrates team standards of excellence, including communication, attitude, and respect for diversity.
  14. Documents all procedures in medical records and radiology information systems to support clinical and billing functions.

No holidays

Two Saturdays per year

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Must maintain required continued education hours.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Registered in Radiography with ARRT or eligible; registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire if eligible.
  • Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) required.
