Job summary

Schaeffler is a dynamic global technology company seeking a Materials Engineer to join its U.S. team in Wooster. The role focuses on magnetic materials and integration with mechanical architecture to deliver competitive product solutions.

The candidate will perform hands-on lab work with SEM, TGA, DSC, FTIR, and ICP, while collaborating across engineering functions to ensure robust, compliant designs and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • 3–5 years of materials engineering experience focusing on magnetic materials.
  • Hands-on lab experience with SEM, TGA, DSC, FTIR, ICP.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into engineering solutions.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct magnetic material characterization to develop competitive products.
  • Understand mechanical system structure from architecture and risk analyses.
  • Break down structures into subsystems and create detailed product specifications.
  • Evaluate reuse potential of existing subsystems and components.
  • Develop alternative structures and select the most suitable.
  • Ensure traceability with mechanical architecture and manage configuration data.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental regulations, and company policies.
