Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking an engineer to develop and support MRI magnet assembly processes and technologies. You will design improvements to enhance performance and reliability while reducing costs, and provide alternatives to materials and processes to support supply chains, interfacing with internal and external suppliers.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with manufacturing or engineering product development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with design, development and manufacturing of complex fabricated assemblies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment MFG., assembly technology, materials technology, and manufacturing methods technology.
  • Hands on hardware experience with mechanical or electrical assemblies and tooling.
  • Experience specifying large scale tooling, or tooling design.
  • Understanding of cryogenic, pressure, or vacuum vessel fabrication and design.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to generate innovative concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field.
  • Evaluates new developments in assembly, welding, brazing, pressure vessels, vacuum chambers, and cryogenic tool and processes.
  • Provides technical support and evaluation of alternative material and processes to support supply chain needs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis, and testing of MRI magnets projects.

Job Description Summary

Develop, plan, and provide technical support for the introduction of new MRI magnet assembly processes and technologies. Design and implement improvements to existing products that enhance performance, reliability, or reduce cost. Provide alternatives and solutions to materials and processes to support supply chain issues and interface with internal and external suppliers to achieve program goals and integrate global activities.

Role Responsibilities

Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field. Evaluates new developments in assembly, welding, brazing, pressure vessels, vacuum chambers, and cryogenic tool and processes. Provides technical support and evaluation of alternative material and processes to support supply chain needs. Participate in many phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up and manufacturing production support optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost. Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new processes. Prepares technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations. Establishes engineering specifications and manufacturing procedures to guide prototype and production assembly. Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis, and testing of MRI magnets projects. Support the manufacturing plant and the Installed Base Participate in product safety, cost out, cycle time reduction and quality enhancement.
