Job summary

GE HealthCare in Florence, SC is seeking an engineer to develop, plan, and provide technical support for new MRI magnet assembly processes and technologies, and to design improvements that boost performance, reliability, or reduce cost.

You will interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve program goals, participate in the product development life cycle from concept to ramp-up, and help ensure manufacturability, serviceability, and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment manufacturing, assembly tech, materials tech, and manufacturing methods tech.
  • Hands-on hardware experience with mechanical or electrical assemblies and tooling.
  • Experience specifying large-scale tooling or tooling design.
  • Understanding of cryogenic, pressure, or vacuum vessel fabrication and design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues for factory and field.
  • Evaluate developments in assembly, welding, brazing, pressure vessels, vacuum chambers, and cryogenic tooling.
  • Support supply chain with alternative materials and processes; interface with suppliers.
  • Participate in product development life cycle from concept to ramp-up and production support.
  • Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis, and testing of MRI magnets.
  • Support manufacturing and Installed Base; uphold GE Healthcare quality and safety goals.

Job Description Summary

Develop, plan, and provide technical support for the introduction of new MRI magnet assembly processes and technologies. Design and implement improvements to existing products that enhance performance, reliability, or reduce cost. Provide alternatives and solutions to materials and processes to support supply chain issues and Interface with internal and external suppliers to achieve program goals and integrate global activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field. Evaluates new developments in assembly, welding, brazing, pressure vessels, vacuum chambers, and cryogenic tool and processes. Provides technical support and evaluation of alternative material and processes to support supply chain needs. Participate in many phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up and manufacturing production support, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost. Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new processes. Prepares technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations. Establishes engineering specifications and manufacturing procedures to guide prototype and production assembly. Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis, and testing of MRI magnets. Participate in product safety, cost out, cycle time reduction and quality enhancement projects. Support the manufacturing plant and the Installed Base. Support and comply with the quality and safety goals of GE Healthcare (GEHC).

Required Qualifications

Bachelors of Engineering Degree (Any discipline) from an accredited college/university.
