Job summary

North Carolina Courts in Iredell County, NC is hiring a full-time Magistrate (NS). Magistrates evaluate requests for criminal charges, issue criminal process and search warrants, and conduct initial appearances including bond hearings.

The position requires working irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays; residency in Iredell County or a contiguous county and meeting education/experience requirements, such as a four-year degree or specified law-enforcement experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a four-year college degree or equivalent experience as defined by NC guidelines.
• Live in the county or contiguous counties at nomination time.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the general public and manage court processes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate requests for criminal charges and issue criminal processes.
• Conduct initial appearances and bond hearings for arrestees.
• Preside over Small Claims Court hearings and perform marriage ceremonies.
