Tippecanoe County Superior Courts is accepting resumes for a full-time Magistrate. The position may work in any division under supervision of presiding judges.

Magistrates are paid by the State of Indiana, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement through the State of Indiana. The role covers hearings in criminal and civil cases, including remote hearings and bench trials, along with other duties as assigned by supervising judges.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana.
• Clear conduct record and good standing with the Indiana Supreme Court.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial hearings.
• Review and rule on various motions.
• Review and rule on search warrant requests.
• Draft and issue orders in a timely manner.
• Preside over probation and community correction violation hearings.
• Preside over hearings and bench trials, including remote hearings.
• Preside over family law, small claims, eviction, and other civil/criminal cases.
• Answer warrant requests after hours and on weekends.
