Macy's is seeking a Site Merchandising Intern to support digital merchandising strategies and improve the online shopping experience from its New York headquarters. You will assist with promotions, analytics, affiliate and SEM efforts, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive business results.

The 8-week summer program offers hands-on exposure to merchandising, analytics tools like Adobe Analytics and Power BI, and opportunities to network with senior leaders in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• Junior standing (rising senior) pursuing a bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
• All majors will be considered for this opportunity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling, presentation, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
• Strong retail math, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, sell-through, and other key retail performance metrics; identify trends; and translate data into actionable business recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis techniques; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Basic understanding of financial performance metrics, profitability concepts, statistical analysis, and assortment planning.

• Test and validate promotions in preview environments to ensure accuracy and functionality prior to launch.
• Assist with affiliate marketing and search engine marketing efforts, including weekly offer linking submissions.
• Support homepage, email, and mobile messaging linking activities alongside Site Merchandising partners.
• Assist with reporting, data aggregation, and analysis using tools such as Adobe Analytics and Power BI.
• Partner with merchant teams to understand business priorities, assortment strategies, and promotional objectives.
• Monitor competitive activity, digital merchandising trends, and promotional events across the retail marketplace.
• Foster strong working relationships that promote collaboration and inclusivity.

Job Overview

The Site Merchandising Intern will support the execution and optimization of digital merchandising strategies that enhance the online customer experience and drive business results. This role provides exposure to promotional planning, digital merchandising, analytics, and e-commerce operations. Macy's summer internship program provides interns with a hands‑on and in-depth understanding of a core business function in retail. Interns have opportunities to directly impact the business as a key part of a team and by sharing new ideas. Macy's interns experience everything our culture has to offer through exposure to senior leaders and networking opportunities. This 8‑week internship program will be held in Macy's New York, New York Corporate offices.

What You Will Do
