Job Purpose

Produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs.
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three‑ and four‑jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicate vices; tramming heads.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first‑run part, and sample workpieces; adhere to international standards.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions.
Qualifications
  • Able to understand, read, and write NC codes and make program adjustments on the floor.
  • Able and willing to train others and share knowledge.
  • Demonstrates leadership characteristics.
  • Able to proficiently operate most machine shop equipment.
  • Able to fabricate and modify tooling such as jigs, fixtures, and templates to produce parts.
  • Possesses advanced machine math skills.
  • Able to travel in support of customer field services (optional).
  • Prior experience with mills, lathes, and CNC (required).
