Job summary

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 2.5 years of education and/or experience after high school.
• Combination of education and experience in the machinist field or completion of a standard apprenticeship in the machinist trade.

Responsibilities

• Operates machine shop equipment (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, welding equipment).
• Fabricates replacement parts and seasonal expendable items for warehouse stock.
• Customizes manufactured components for special applications.
• Reads detailed drawings; sets up and operates stationary machine shop equipment to manufacture precision parts.
• Inspects vehicle brake drums and rotors for wear and flaws; approves reconditioning or condemnation as needed.
