Description

Curriculum must comply with MCTC’s CNC Machinist program. Actual courses will be negotiated between the employee and Stober Drives Inc., depending on course availability. If the employee has already completed a course with a passing grade, they will receive credit and will not need to retake it.

Position Summary

Performs a wide range of setup, inspection, and production duties on CNC Machine Tools as required by production schedules and business needs. Attends MCTC part-time as stipulated.

Job Duties:

• Program, setup, and operate various machine tools.
• Perform quality inspections as required.
• Execute computer transactions and complete paperwork to update order status.
• Perform housekeeping duties.
• Coordinate daily tasks with team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Upon completion of 48 hours and OJT, employee should have:

• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to create conversational CNC programs.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
• Ability to select and apply various cutting tools.
• Mechanical ability and familiarity with hand tools.
• Ability to work from written instructions.
• Quality-minded with the ability to inspect own work.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

We reserve the right to hire a qualified machinist as an alternative to the apprentice position.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Mechanical experience or machine shop metrology experience is a plus but not required.

Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently use hands and fingers, reach, talk, and hear. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly. Occasionally sit, climb, and balance. Vision requirements include close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
