Job summary

ARCH Cutting Tools - Flushing in Flushing, MI is seeking skilled part-time machinists for 1st and 2nd shifts. The climate-controlled plant offers an organized, clean environment with emphasis on safety and quality.

Roles include operating CNC lathes, grinders, and mills, reading blueprints, setting up tooling, and maintaining parts to spec. Prior CNC experience with Fanuc is required, along with blueprint interpretation.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of related experience in machining or manufacturing.
• Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC controls is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and job instructions.
• Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance interpretation is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes, grinders, mills, and manual mills or lathes to produce parts per specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job instructions, and machining specifications.
• Set up fixturing, live tooling, and cutting tools for operations.
• Select cutting tools and calculate feeds, speeds, and depths of cut.
• Read and interpret CNC programs and adjust offsets as needed (if CNC).
• Set and adjust CNC offsets, tool offsets, and other machine parameters.
• Monitor machining operations and adjust for part quality and tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Follow safety procedures and operate equipment properly and safely.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and keep work area clean and organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

ARCH Cutting Tools, a precision cutting tools manufacturer, is looking for skilled part-time machinists on 1 st and 2 nd Shifts.

Our Flushing location is a climate-controlled working environment with heat and air conditioning. It is also clean and organized.

We are looking for experienced:

• CNC Grinders
• CNC Lathe
• CNC Mill
• Manual Mill
• Manual Lathe

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (apply those applicable to the job – if you’re experienced, you’ll know which apply).

• Set up and operate CNC lathes, Grinders, Mills, and Manual Mills or Lathes to produce parts according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job instructions, and machining specifications.
• Set up fixturing, live tooling, cutting tools, and other equipment required for operations.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and calculate feeds, speeds, and depths of cut.
• Read, interpret, and make adjustments to programming (if CNC).
• Set and adjust CNC work offsets, tool offsets, tool radius offsets, and other machine parameters.
• Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality and specifications.
• Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Follow established safety procedures and properly operate equipment and materials.
• Must observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly and safely for the safety of the employees and tools.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and maintain machine cleanliness.
• Keep the surrounding work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform job requirements and all other duties as assigned.

Competencies, Qualifications, Education/Experience Requirements:

• 2-4 years of related experience.
• Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC controls required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job instructions.
• Ability to understand CNC programs and make basic program or offset adjustments.
• Familiarity with Mastercam, CAD, or similar software is a plus.
• Ability to perform basic to advanced mathematical calculations related to machining.
• Ability to apply common sense, understanding, and ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving variables.
• Must be able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor your own work to ensure quality of product.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and or 5S is a plus.
• Experience in an Aerospace environment is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) with profile tolerancing.
• Ability to inspect parts and maintain required quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
