Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in York, PA is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist (Journeyman) to support Navy vessel equipment fabrication and repair. You will read shop prints, set up and operate CNC mills, perform fixture changes, inspect parts, and maintain tooling to ensure precise finishes and tolerances. A Journeyman certificate and U.S.

citizenship are required. Location: York, PA Navy Systems Plant. Shifts: 2nd Shift, 2pm–10pm; pay $43.31/hr with $2.00 shift differential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read shop prints, mathematics, handbook formulas, precision measuring instrument, process sheets.
  • Knowledge of NC/CNC controlled machines and shop practices equivalent to 1 to 2 years trades training.
  • Ability to setup and operate any tape of tape controlled milling and frilling machines for all specified machining operations. Judgment required to plan, perform, make general decisions within prescribed quality, tolerance, limitations.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical effort working continuously with light weight or frequently with average weight materials
  • U.S. citizen
  • This position requires proof of a Journeyman's Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Use tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and hand power tools, deburr tools and appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape program, instructions, or visual display units.
  • Perform fixture change-overs, loading and unloading of production parts, on-line piece parts inspection and manual data input to insure specified finishes, tolerances.
  • Maintain tooling and backup tooling (where necessary).
  • Monitor control messages and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform utility functions to maintain process.
  • Will perform housekeeping and deburr internal to machining operations.
  • Fills out PM check lists and may assist in the PM of the machine.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, hand tools, tool setting equipment, appropriate material handling equipment.

Job description

We are seeking a CNC Machinist (Journeyman) to join our federal team at our York, PA location. We're keeping the Navy cool. Literally. Our team at the Grantley Plant custom designs, develops and manufactures complex chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels around the world. The job consists of performing duties required to plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, fit, braze tubing, thread, weld complex piping, system components and weld coded, and noncoded pressure vessel assemblies and subassemblies, working with ferrous, nonferrous metals, using conventional or automatic submerged arc welding and difficult positions of stick, tig, and manual arc welding of Navy equipment.

Location: York, PA Navy Systems Plant Shifts: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday (2pm - 10pm) Pay: $43.31 per hour, plus $2.00/hour shift differential Union: This is a bargaining unit (union) position.
