Job description

We are looking for a talented Machinist IV to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fletcher, NC .

Job Summary:

Works with relevant functions to analyze, design and manufacture complex components using machine tool equipment. Thoroughly understands the protocols of working safely with industrial equipment, electricity and other energy sources. Acts as a formal resource coordinating others. Quickly and effectively adapts to change in the manufacturing environment.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
  • Significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.
Desired Characteristics
  • Demonstrates discipline and preparedness in executing all Start of Shift and End of Shift activities.
  • Consistently follows PPE requirements and complies with all safety policies, procedures, and work center standards.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area through routine housekeeping, 5S practices, and machine cleaning activities.
  • Effectively utilizes Hour-by-Hour boards and the Daily Operations Management (DOM) system to communicate performance and operational status.
  • Actively identifies and supports continuous improvement opportunities through the FIFI system.
  • Adheres to standard work instructions and established operating procedures at all times.
  • Fully proficient in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of gearing equipment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments and consistently follows Measurement and Gaging Instructions (MIG).
  • Maintains quality standards by preventing defects from escaping the control plan and strictly following escalation procedures when issues arise.
  • Consistently achieves production rate targets while proactively identifying downtime causes and implementing corrective actions to improve process performance.
  • Works effectively as a team member and actively supports the training and development of others.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, particularly in tooling changeovers and equipment adjustments.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of carbide inserts, cutting tools, drills, and related tooling applications.
