Job summary

CIRCOR Pumps North America is seeking a skilled Machinist III for our Defense cell in Monroe, NC. You will operate CNC OD and thread grinders to produce ground rotors, ensure tolerances, and maintain safe, efficient workflow on third shift.

Ideal candidates have HS Diploma, 1–3 years machining experience, and a technical degree is a plus; you must read drawings, measure parts with precision tools, and follow detailed instructions with accuracy and pride in quality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate a CNC OD grinder and a CNC thread grinder.
• Semi and finish grind all ODs on both power rotors and idler rotors.
• Semi and finish grind threads on all both power rotors and idler rotors to size, index, form, and finish as required.
• Utilize multi-function electric to lift/move/load/unload parts.
• Deburr edges using a file or die grinder.
• Clean parts and centers of chips.
• Physically lift and check all dimensions, machine to drawing.
• Make adjustments to produce parts within specifications.
• Fill out paperwork, monitor coolant, keep housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION DETAILS - Cylindrical Grinder/Thread Grinder

Position Summary

The machinist in this role will be responsible for a Defense cell that runs both a CNC Cylindrical Grind and a CNC Thread Grind machine.

With own judgement and minimal directions from others, produce a quality ground rotor in a safe and efficient manner.

• Setup and operate a CNC OD grinder and a CNC thread grinder.
• Semi and finish grind all ODs on both power rotors and idler rotors,
• Semi and finish grind threads on all both power rotors and idler rotors to size, index, form, and finish as required.
• Utilize multi-function electric to lift/move/load/unload parts, to perform work center functions.
• Deburr all sharp edges as needed utilizing a file, or other hand tool such as die grinder.
• Clean parts and centers of chips and wipe dry.
• Physically, lift and check all dimensions, machine to conform with finish drawing.
• Make adjustments on machines as needed to produce quality parts within specifications and standards given/per piece.
• Properly fill-out all paperwork, monitor coolant, and keep good housekeeping.
• Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Continuously, walk or move from one machine to as many as three. Physically, load and unload parts. Step up to and down from elevator work platform and on to various parts of machine for wheel changes and cleaning.
• Compliance with all rules and regulations, normal safety precautions.
• Use precision measuring equipment, such as: micrometer, dial caliper, profilometers, lead checker, gash gauges, master, etc. to inspect rotors.
• Physically, load and unload parts up to 40 pounds.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to read and follow detailed instructions.
• Must be able to fill out forms as needed such as: daily labor report, log sheet, etc.
• Use of mathematics, reading complicated drawings, specifications, charts, etc with clarity and understanding

Education & Experience

• HS Diploma
• 1-3 years machining experience preferred
• Technical Degree in Machining a plus
