Job description

The Opportunity

The CNC Machinist will have responsibility for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines in cell location 8546 (Multi-Stage IP Rotor). The Machinist will also ensure that machines are properly tooled and may be required to make recommendations to modify programs as appropriate. They will participate in inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure the parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications.

Additionally, the CNC Machinist will:

  1. Set-up and operate miscellaneous CNC and/or manual machines (ID grinders).
  2. Machine and/or test parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
  3. Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
  4. Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material, and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances and specifications.
  5. Perform inspection and testing activities to ensure parts are machined per standards and blueprints. Visually inspect for burrs or damages.
  6. Provide input for selecting, installing, and adjusting CNC and manual machine cutting tools based on material type and size.
  7. Remove burrs, sharp edges, and irregularities to ensure compliance with blueprints and tolerance requirements.
  8. Maintain proper identification of parts and accurate records.
  9. Communicate shift requirements to ensure team coordination.
  10. Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment.
  11. Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with standards.
  12. Ensure continuous flow of materials and parts.
  13. Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications

High School diploma or GED with at least 2 years of machining experience, specifically with CNC grinders. Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications, with foundational knowledge of machining mathematics and inspection techniques. Capable of training and guiding lower skill team members.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance if needed.
  • Ability to push or pull 60 lbs.
  • Grip strength of at least 50 lbs.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance if necessary.
