Job summary

RBC Bearings Incorporated is seeking a Machinist III to support machining operations, setup and run CNC and manual mills and lathes, and develop fixturing for first‑run parts. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a collaborative team on the production floor.

The ideal candidate has 3–8 years of experience, strong measurement skills (GD&T, CMM), and proficiency with G & M codes along with CAD/CAM software. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of machinist experience.
• Proficient in G & M codes and editing CNC programs.
• Knowledge of GD&T, CMM and optical comparator.
• CAD/CAM experience required.
• Able to read technical drawings and shop instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC and manual mills and lathes, surface grinder as needed.
• Design and make fixturing for first-run parts.
• Troubleshoot non-conforming parts and implement improvements.
• Train Level I/II machinists and provide machining guidance.

Position Summary
This position supports operational excellence in the machining processes to drive productivity, quality and continuous improvement. We expect this individual to be a leader who collaborates with the Sargent team to exceed organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety is the foundation of daily work through vigilance and accountability.
• Model Safe behaviors at all times.

Follow company quality control standards to include in process inspection and documentation.

Knowledge of safety standards for equipment being run.

Must be able to make decisions, communicate effectively across departments, train and works well with others in a team environment.

Design and make fixturing for first run parts that will go to the production floor.

Monitor and troubleshoot non-conforming parts as they occur.

Produce and inspect parts with the ability to offer continuous improvement opportunities.

Setup and run CNC & manual mills, CNC & manual lathes, surface grinder and other shop machines as needed.

Deburr own parts as required.

Provide direction and assist others with machining practices and issues

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-8 years’ experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Application of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics (algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
• Advanced measurement skills including GD&T, CMM and optical comparator.
• Knowledge of tooling capabilities (speeds/feeds and insert grades).
• Must be proficient in G and M codes and editing CNC programs to set up and run complex parts with the understanding of CAD/CAM.
• Ability to read, interpret technical drawings, routers, work instructions and specifications.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability and willingness to train Level I and II machinists.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen,
• Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lathe and/or Mill experience preferred.
• Master Cam preferred.
• Ability to setup and run EDM is a plus.
