Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in a general machine shop with CNC capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and understand basic metallurgy.

Your responsibilities

  • Examine work order and drawing of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements
  • Select and install tooling in tool posts, turrets, indexing heads, or automatic tool change magazines in the sequence specified on program printout
  • Mount the workpiece in the chuck, on fixtures, between centers or to a faceplate
  • Proofread the program to verify dimensions, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts
  • Monitor machine performance - make necessary adjustments to feeds and speeds
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, etc
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • May perform flame cutting or arc welding operations when required
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position

What you bring

  • 4 years’ experience in a general machine shop
  • Ability to run CNC lathes, mills, and drill presses
  • Must have an understanding of mechanics, basic metallurgy, tolerance, tools, mathematics, layout and machine procedures
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints
  • Must have knowledge of tooling geometry and replacement or sharpening practice
  • Must have the ability to follow written or verbal instructions
  • Computer skills: ability to use the computer for time tracking purposes and manipulating programs
  • Multi-axis CNC capabilities are a plus
