Job summary

AAR Corp. in Hot Springs, AR, seeks a skilled Machinist III to set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and grinders to produce aerospace components. You will read complex drawings, apply GD&T, and machine tight tolerances on aerospace materials.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required with preferred technical program.
  • 3–5 years of precision aerospace machining experience.
  • Hands-on CNC and manual machining capability with quality awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders and related equipment.
  • Interpret complex aerospace blueprints and GD&T specifications.
  • Machine tight-tolerance parts using aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.
  • Plan and perform setups, tooling selection, and operations with minimal supervision.
  • Program and edit CNC code and adjust offsets for precision.
  • Inspect finished parts with micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM as applicable.
  • Document inspection results per AS9100 and internal procedures.
  • Support tooling fabrication and QA/production teams to resolve issues.
  • Maintain clean work areas and follow 5S and safety policies.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA and internal requirements.

Machinist III - 18766

Description

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other precision machinin equipment
  • Interpret complex aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications including GD&T.
  • Machine tight-tolerance parts using aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.
  • Plan and perform setups, tooling selection, and machining operations with minimal supervision.
  • Program and edit CNC code (G/M code) and adjust offsets to ensure precision dimensions.
  • Inspect and verify finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM (as applicable).
  • Document inspection results per AS9100 and internal quality control procedures.
  • Support the fabrication and repair of tooling, fixtures, and jigs used in aircraft component manufacturing or MRO operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all FAA, EASA, and internal safety and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and adhere to all 5S and safety policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited machinist or aerospace manufacturing technical program preferred.
  • 3–5 years of precision machining experience in aerospace or a similar regulated industry.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining centers (HAAS, Mazak, Okuma, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and FAA Part 145 repair station quality standards a plus.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and process specifications.
  • Skilled in setup, operation, and troubleshooting of both CNC and manual equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and machining to aerospace tolerances.
