APM Manufacturing in Orange, CA, seeks a senior CNC Mill Machinist III to set up and run complex 4- and 5-axis milling operations, read aerospace drawings, and mentor junior machinists. This role requires 5–8+ years of milling experience in a precision environment.

You will perform first article and in-process inspections per AS9100 and customer specs, maintain tight tolerances, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED is required; technical degree or apprenticeship preferred.
• 5–8+ years milling experience in a precision manufacturing environment; aerospace experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of CNC controls and GD&T.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Experience with first article inspections and AS9100 familiarity.

Aufgaben

• Independently set up, operate, and optimize complex CNC and multi-axis milling machines.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
• Develop setup strategies, select tooling, and design/modify fixtures as needed.
• Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections per AS9100 and customer specifications.
• Hold tight tolerances (±.0002"-±.0005" typical in aerospace applications).
• Troubleshoot advanced machining, tooling, and process issues to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
• Make program edits at the machine (G-code) and recommend process improvements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Train and mentor Mill Machinist I and II team members.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR if applicable).
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and traceability documentation.

This position operates with minimal supervision and serves as a technical resource and mentor to junior machinists while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in GD&T and complex blueprint interpretation
• Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis/5-axis preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize machining processes
• High level of proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or apprenticeship preferred
• 5-8+ years of milling experience in a precision manufacturing environment; aerospace experience strongly preferred
