Job description

As a Set-up CNC Machinist, you’ll play a crucial role in our mission by operating and troubleshooting advanced CNC machines to craft high-quality parts for the Aerospace and Automotive industries. You’ll work with a variety of machinery, including lathes, mills, grinders such as Haas, Fadal, Mori Seiki, and Okuma, ensuring precision and quality in every piece you produce.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Setup Machinist with experience in both CNC milling and CNC turning (lathes). The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up CNC machines for production runs, generating quality CNC Programs, ensuring all tooling and programs are correct, and verifying the first part to meet quality standards. This role is crucial in maintaining smooth production flow, minimizing downtime, and ensuring high-quality output.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work in a manner that complies with all site policies and procedures, actively demonstrate SG principles of conduct & action, and adhere to all EHS requirements.
  • Read work orders to understand and meet customer specifications.
  • Ability to maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances.
  • Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and 5S procedures.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions on improvement opportunities.
  • Follow instructions and procedures carefully.
  • Record data, record and report problems as they arise.
  • Report defective material or equipment problems to the lead or engineer, as directed.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting with little or no supervision.
  • Contribute to the team by performing other duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers and operators to improve setup times and part quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of setups, tooling requirements, and part specifications.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational or technical training/certification preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in performing set-ups for CNC Machining for both Mills and Lathes (Required).
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in programming CNC Machining for both Mills and Lathes (Required).
  • CNC Programming – Mastercam 5 years required
  • Mastercam Certification or similar program preferred.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of proper safety procedures.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance, and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience in dismantling jigs, tools, and special fixtures.
  • Skills in making and modifying tooling as necessary.
  • Ability to train and mentor co-workers on CNC machine operations and inspection techniques.
  • A keen eye for maintaining drawing specifications by monitoring for dimensional and visual accuracy.
  • Experience working in with high-mix, low-volume production environment.
  • Dedication to performing preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure longevity and efficiency.

For this position, we offer a competitive hourly pay range of $31.00 to $42.00. This rate reflects various factors, such as your location, internal equity, and your unique skills and experience.

In addition to your base pay, you will have the opportunity to earn periodic bonuses or an annual bonus, which can amount to up to 10% of your hourly rate based on both company performance and your individual contributions. When you consider the annualized total compensation, which includes both your hourly pay and potential bonuses, you could be looking at a rewarding total cash range of $67,700 to $91,700.
