Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA is seeking a Machinist II for our Cortland, OH facility. The role involves forming and shaping material, operating lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, and grinders, and working from drawings to create parts for repairs and prototypes.

The position requires 2–3 years of related machining experience, a high school diploma, and certification in crane/forklift operation. A valid driver’s license and strict safety practices are also needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years related machining experience.
• Crane/Forklift certification (in-house training provided).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Proficient in safe use of measurement tools and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Forms and shapes material.
• Operates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating and profile machines.
• Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts.
• Machining to ordinary tolerances.
• Assesses dimensions and tolerances from blueprints and specifications.
• Calculates cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensions.
• Inspects machined parts for conformance.
• Pre-sets tools for machining operations.
• Assists in training less experienced machinists.
• Daily maintenance check of machine.
• Other duties as assigned.
