Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA is seeking a CNC Machinist III at our Benton Harbor, MI facility to operate lathes, mills and grinders, reading drawings and instructions to repair metal parts. You will determine dimensions, set up machines, and ensure parts meet tolerances and specifications.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and 5+ years of machining experience, with preference for large horizontal boring mills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Five or more years of machining experience; preference for large horizontal boring mills.
• Crane/Forklift certification and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Operates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers and grinders per drawings and instructions.
• Creates replacement and new parts for complex metal repairs.
• Works to ordinary tolerances and understands materials and measurements.
• Determines dimensions and sequence of operations from specifications and blueprints.
• Calculates cutting speeds, feeds and machine setup requirements.
• Pre-sets all tools and inspects finished work for conformance to specs; maintains work area.
• Performs daily maintenance checks on machines.
