Job summary

Jim Myers & Sons, Inc is seeking a Machinist II to set up and operate engine lathes, milling machines, CNC lathe, and related equipment to produce high-quality parts per print. You will monitor performance, maintain equipment, and ensure safe operation throughout the shift.

The role requires at least 1 year of machining experience, basic math skills, and attention to detail. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work 5:00am–3:30pm, with OT on Fridays/Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of 1 year of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Requires use of basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment – working with close tolerances.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes.
• Knowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material types.

Responsibilities

• Operating and processing parts effectively and efficiently according to print and traveler requirements.
• Monitoring machine performance and utilization.
• Understanding setup and safe operation of multiple pieces of equipment including, but not limited to, engine lathes, milling machines, CNC lathe, keyway machine.
• Safely operating overhead crane, forklift, calipers, grinders, drills, and other hand tools required for the job.
• Diagnosing machining problems while performing jobs, making modifications as needed.
• Checking quality of product machined and notify supervisor of dimensional issues.
• Performing operator maintenance and/or housekeeping per established schedules.
• Adhering to all JMS safety procedures and regulations.
• Ability to set up all lathe and milling machines in order to produce parts per print.
• Ability to diagnose problems in assembly and take corrective actions.
• Other duties as assigned
