Job summary

GP&C in Houston, TX is seeking a Machinist 2 responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This mid-level role requires strong skills in blueprint reading, GD&T, and quality control.

You will work with minimal supervision on CNC and manual machines including lathes, mills, and Waterjet, perform complex setups, train operators, and ensure parts meet exact specifications while upholding safety and continuous

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges).
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
• Strong English communication and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (lathes, mills, waterjet).
• Perform complex setups and ensure parts meet exact specs.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow PM charts.
• Train incoming Operators and Set-Up Technicians.
• Verify gauge calibration and perform machine fixturing.
• Read and interpret drawings and program edits.
• Support assembly and other departments as needed.
