With pump installations in 145 countries, Peerless is globally recognized for engineering tough, reliable, and versatile pump solutions with extensive flow and pressure capabilities. From our production facilities in Indianapolis and Houston to our service centers in Lubbock and Fresno, Peerless pumps are designed to protect people and property from fire and to bring water where it’s needed most. Our legacy of innovation is fueled by attracting, training, and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds. With competitive benefits and a strong emphasis on development, growth, and innovation, Peerless employees come seeking a job but stay to build a career.

Are you a skilled machinist who thrives on precision CNC programming, complex setups, and solving tough machining challenges with minimal supervision? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.

As our new Machinist II - 2nd Shift, you will be performing complete setups including advanced programming, editing, and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, and mills while mentoring fellow team members and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Manufacturing Machine Shop team, you'll create impact by delivering precision-machined components that power Peerless Pump solutions, ensuring quality and efficiency while helping develop the next generation of machinists on your team.

Your main responsibilities include:
  • Complete setup including CNC programming (Fanuc Controls/G Code), editing, operation, and preventative maintenance on milling centers, lathes, and mills
  • Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Calculate and set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut; perform offsets, fixturing, and adjustments for tool wear and finish quality
  • Inspect finished work pieces for conformance to prints and GD&T specifications using precision measuring instruments and gages
  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to other machinists on assembly activities, processes, and best practices
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and 5S standards while completing all required manual and electronic documentation accurately
What makes you a great fit

Above all, you are a precision-focused machinist with strong CNC programming skills, advanced blueprint reading ability, and the confidence to work independently while mentoring others in a fast-paced job shop environment.

We would also imagine that you have:
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2-4 years of manual machining experience (mills, drills, grinders)
  • 1-3 years of CNC programming, operation, and setup experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Allen-Bradley controls
  • Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading, shop math (decimals, fractions, geometry, trigonometry), and GD&T
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a non-climate-controlled facility
It is a plus if you also:
  • Additional technical training or certification in machining or manufacturing technology
  • Strong experience using machining centers in a job shop environment with precision threading, boring, and grooving
  • Veterans with related technical MOS experience are strongly encouraged to apply
Why you will love working here

We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:
