Job summary

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Assembler I for the Process Pump team in Indianapolis. You will assemble, test, and mount a range of process and standard pumps, combining precision craftsmanship with technical know‑how to deliver reliable pumping systems.

You will read engineering drawings, perform hydraulic pressure tests, and maintain records while training teammates and driving safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical education is a plus.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient with hand tools and precision measuring gauges.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, and repair pumps and components.
  • Mount pumps and accessories to base plates and make electrical/mechanical connections.
  • Set up hydraulic and performance tests and record results accurately.
  • Perform drilling, tapping, fitting, balancing, and polishing as needed.
  • Maintain records and assist with obtaining hardware items to complete jobs.
  • Train teammates and promote teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

As our new Assembler I - 1st Shift, you will be assembling, testing, and mounting a range of process and standard pumps, combining precision craftsmanship with technical know‑how to deliver reliable pumping systems. What you will be doing


As a key part of the Process Pump Assembly & Manufacturing team, you'll create impact by Building and testing the pumps and pumping systems that deliver water solutions to communities and industries worldwide, directly contributing to Peerless Pump's mission of pioneering sustainable water technology.


Your main responsibilities include:

  • Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, and repair process and standard pumps, checking all components for suitability prior to assembly
  • Mount pumps, accessories, and components to base plates using mechanical fasteners and make electrical and mechanical connections
  • Set up and perform hydraulic pressure tests, performance tests, and run tests on pumps and pumping systems, recording all results accurately
  • Perform precision operations including drilling, tapping, fitting, reaming, balancing, and polishing of components as needed
  • Maintain manual and electronic records, retrieve information, and obtain hardware items necessary to complete jobs
  • Provide training and instruction to fellow team members while promoting teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement

What makes you a great fit


Above all, you are a mechanically skilled assembler with a strong work ethic, the ability to read engineering drawings and schematics, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship in a team‑oriented manufacturing environment.


We would also imagine that you have:

  • High school diploma or GED, with further technical education or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to read and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and apply math to material fabrication
  • Proficiency with manual, power‑driven, and pneumatic hand tools as well as precision measuring instruments and gages
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a non‑climate‑controlled factory environment


It is a plus if you also:

  • Experience with process, vertical, and/or horizontal pump assembly
  • Forklift license and experience with lifting equipment including crane lift rigging
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement methodologies

The salary range for this position is $45,300-$59,990 (paid hourly, non‑exempt). Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Peerless Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.
