Job summary

Apex Tool Group is seeking a Machinist I in Lexington, SC to set up and operate CNC and conventional machining equipment, producing components to drawing specifications. You will ensure quality through tool setup, changeovers, and in-process checks, while collaborating with engineers to fix issues on the floor.

Qualified candidates typically have a high school diploma or GED and 3 years of machinist experience; an associate degree can substitute for work experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years' Machinist experience preferred; associate degree may substitute for work experience.
• Experience in a precision machined manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to set up and run conventional machining equipment.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and interpret drawings.

Responsibilities

• Be the setup operator for machines in your cell, including setup, fixturing, work offsets, tool building, and tool setting.
• Correct incorrect programming on CNC machines.
• Load tools, troubleshoot, and perform quality checks before job completion.
• Proof programs and modify as needed on your machines.
• Collaborate with engineers to resolve problems beyond floor level.
• Read blueprints/drawings and interpret instructions.
• Identify tooling and adjustments for changeovers to next order.
• Use M & G codes and measuring equipment to ensure parts meet specs.
• Record productivity data and first article inspections; follow safety policies.
