Ultramet, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Machinist I to join our machine shop in Pacoima, CA. The role focuses on setting up and operating conventional equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and bandsaws, to fabricate basic parts while learning from experienced colleagues.

You will review drawings, follow established procedures, conduct basic in-process inspections, and complete shop paperwork. Prior machining experience is helpful, but a strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

Qualifikationen

• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work.
• Comfortable working with tools and learning how machines operate.
• Basic shop math and measurement skills.
• Good attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to follow written instructions, drawings, and sketches.
• Ability to use or learn micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other measuring devices.
• Dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable asking questions when guidance is needed.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred; trade school considered.
• Machining, mechanical, fabrication, or related hands-on experience is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Set up and operate conventional machine shop equipment with guidance from a lead or supervisor.
• Work with lathes, mills, surface grinders, OD grinders, lappers, cut-off lathes, and band saws.
• Fabricate parts of basic complexity using machine shop techniques.
• Review drawings and sketches to understand work to be performed.
• Follow sequence of steps to fabricate parts.
• Perform in-process inspections using basic measuring devices.
• Complete required paperwork and follow shop and safety procedures.
• Learn from experienced team members and continue developing machining skills.
