Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Machinist Horizontal Lathe for a 2nd shift in Northwest Houston. The role involves setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and NC machines to fabricate metal and nonmetal parts.

The position requires CNC lathe/mill experience, fixture installation, and precise parameter setup. You will read drawings, measure parts, complete inspection reports, and work in a fast-paced team environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years’ experience on CNC Machines or Manual Machines
• Must be able to read and understand G-Codes and M-Codes using Fanuc controls.
• Able to perform jobs duties with or without reasonable accommodations
• Experience in machining valve components a plus
• Able to perform these jobs duties with or without reasonable accommodations

Responsibilities

• Experience on CNC lathe or mill

• Set-Up CNC Machines using edge finder or probe to locate program zero
• Read in and adjust program speeds, feeds, depth of cuts as required
• Machine part to drawing

Schedule: Air-conditioned Modern Shop located in Northwest Houston & room for advancement for the right individual

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities:

• Experience on CNC lathe or mill
• Install chuck jaws and or fixtures on machine
• Set-Up CNC Machines using edge finder or probe to locate program zero
• Read in and adjust program speeds, feeds, depth of cuts as required
• Machine part to drawing
• Measure part, complete inspection report and adjust offsets
• May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor

Core Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 3 years’ experience on CNC Machines or Manual Machines

• Must be able to machine exotic machines materials such as Titanium and Inconel
