Job summary

Lead Screws International Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC External Thread Grinder for 1st shift (6 am to 2:30 pm) to join our precision manufacturing team in Traverse City, MI. You will set up, operate, and maintain thread grinding equipment to produce high-precision components.

The role requires reading blueprints, performing tool changes and offsets, inspecting parts with micrometers, calipers and thread gauges, and working closely with Eng, Quality, and Production to meet quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience reading precision gauges (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges).
• Advanced math skills.
• Ability to read a ruler or tape measure.
• Ability to program in G-code and conversational programming languages.
• Experience with G-code editing and machine offsets.
• Experience manufacturing lead screws, ball screws, or precision threaded products (preferred).
• Experience with CNC external thread grinding equipment (preferred).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC external thread grinding machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and job travelers.
• Perform machine setups, tool changes, offsets, and program adjustments as needed.
• Load and properly secure raw materials.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and production efficiency.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Troubleshoot machining and grinding issues.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
