Machinist - Cold Heading Operator Trainee 1st Shift

Job Summary

The Cold Heading Operator Trainee performs skilled tasks in running and maintaining production equipment to meet customer needs. The Machine Operator operates Cold Heading or Roll Threading Machines, sometimes both.

Reporting To

Department Manager or Supervisor

Essential Job Functions
  1. Compile dimensions of stock, sequence of machining, and thread specifications from charts and documents.
  2. Select, install, and adjust threading dies, cutters, chamfering tools, and other machine components to ensure quality parts.
  3. Adjust speed controls to synchronize transfer and ejection of stock with machine actions.
  4. Select correct EMS components and load into the machine.
  5. Follow all safety regulations.
  6. Verify workpiece dimensions, modify and grind dies as needed.
  7. Maintain, oil, and clean machines regularly; manage housekeeping standards.
  8. Inspect quality, troubleshoot issues with engineers, and document findings.
  9. Load and unload vendor supplies using a forklift.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities
  1. Strong mechanical aptitude.
  2. Detail-oriented.
  3. Good communication skills.
  4. Ability to interpret safety, operating, and maintenance documents.
  5. Complete routine production and quality reports.
  6. Understand and adhere to safety rules and regulations.
Education And Experience
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Trade School apprenticeship experience is a plus.
  3. Experience in the fastener industry is a plus.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Regularly stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms during duties.
