Job summary

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works in Bath, ME is seeking a Machinist (Grades 4-6) to set up and operate a wide range of machine shop equipment, including lathes, radial drills, grinders, presses and CNC machines. The role requires reading blueprints and applying basic math to measure parts and verify tolerances.

The position supports multiple shop tasks with all shifts, and a minimum of 1 year experience in a metals fabrication shop is preferred.

Qualifications

• Blueprints and geometric dimensions reading.
• Reading measuring tools and performing calculations.
• Knowledge of CNC and G-Code helpful.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine shop equipment including lathes, drills, grinders, presses, punches, cut-off saws, milling machines, rolls, sheers and brakes; some CNC operation may be required.
• Read blueprints in detail to verify tolerances and dimensions.
• Interpret measurement tools (tape measure, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) and perform basic math as needed.
