Job summary

GE Aerospace Terre Haute site is seeking a machining technician to set up and operate assigned machines supporting engine component manufacture. You will work on complex combustors and structures for aircraft engines, ensuring high-quality outputs through precise setup and inspection.

The role emphasizes reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and maintaining accurate records while collaborating in a LEAN, safety-focused environment with shift flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of machining experience.
  • Ability to read drawings, procedures and blueprints.
  • Willing to perform physically demanding tasks and shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Complete machine set-up.
  • Load tools and tool holders as required.
  • Perform jaw cutting and re-cutting.
  • Set fixture offsets as required.
  • Verify correct tool hardware, diameter, radius, drill length, and end mills.
  • Verify accuracy of tool offset changes as needed.
  • Perform periodic inspections of calibration.
  • Read and process parts and visual braze inspection.
  • Maintain accurate work records.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect parts.
  • Support the team concept and learn or perform other duties as required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with others, both written and verbal.
  • Follow and promote safe work practices.
  • Support LEAN initiatives.

Job Description Summary

This challenging role has responsibility for setting up and operating assigned machines to support production operations related to the manufacture of high-quality engine components and products. You will be part of GE Aerospace’s Terre Haute site, which consists of component manufacturing and assembly facilities focused on complex combustors and structures for commercial and military aircraft engines.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Complete machine set‑up.
  • Load tools and tool holders as required.
  • Perform jaw cutting and re‑cutting.
  • Set fixture offsets as required.
  • Verify correct tool hardware, diameter, radius, drill length, and end mills.
  • Verify accuracy of tool offset changes as needed.
  • Perform periodic inspections of calibration.
  • Read and process parts and visual braze inspection.
  • Maintain accurate work records.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect parts.
  • Support the team concept and learn or perform other duties as required.

  • Lift light to medium weight and perform tasks that may require crouching, stooping or other awkward positions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of machining experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of joining; role may involve high‑risk or hazardous operations and/or work shifts beyond a standard work week.
Desirable Characteristics
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and utilize procedures, sketches, and blueprints as well as perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment and demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
  • Milling and turning experience.
