Job summary

Wanner Engineering Inc. in Minneapolis, MN is seeking an experienced CNC machinist to produce machined parts through lathe, mill, and/ or swiss machining.

You will set up machines, verify first-run parts, and maintain quality and safety standards while following ISO QMS procedures. Responsibilities include planning setups from GD&T, adjusting tool offsets, loading stock, and performing preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in lathe, mill and/or swiss machining.
• Background in process improvement.
• Experience with tooling.
• Strong functional and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan machining by studying setup sheets, blueprints, GD&T.
• Set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and calculating requirements.
• Set up mills and lathes by following setup sheets.
• Load machines by lifting stock into position.
• Verify settings by measuring first-run parts.
• Maintain part quality by replacing worn tools and following QA procedures.
• Maintain safe operations and adherence to safety rules.
• Maintain equipment by preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Ensure smooth shift handoffs by communicating essential information.

JOB SCOPEProduce machined parts including set-up and operation of computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Includes maintaining quality and safety standards, record keeping and maintenance of equipment and supplies.RESPONSIBILITIES1. Plan machining by studying setup sheets, blueprints, materials inspection gauging, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).2. Set tool registers, offsets, compensation and calculating requirements. Includes the use of basic math.3. Set up mills and lathes by following setup sheets.4. Load machines by lifting stock into position.5. Verify settings by measuring first-run part. Includes checking samples as required.6. Maintain part quality by replacing worn tools and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.7. Maintain safe operations.8. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. Includes following manufacturer’s instructions calling for repairs when needed.9. Maintain continuity among work shifts by communicating necessary information to next shift.10. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.11.
