Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is looking for a Machinist 1 in Colorado to join the machine shop team, reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor.

This conversion opportunity targets a pre-identified temporary employee currently at MKS and emphasizes productivity, quality, and daily efficacy. Key duties include planning, layout, setup and operation of major machines, reading blueprints and process sheets, inspecting work to tolerances, and performing minor repairs.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of related experience required.
  • Requires machine shop experience and basic decimal arithmetic.
  • Experience reading blueprints and process sheets is preferred.

  • Assignment planning, layout, setup, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic machines.
  • Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks including cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
  • Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances.
  • May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

Job description

A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a machinist 1 at MKS Instruments, you will partner with the machine shop team, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and the technical operations teams. You will be responsible for productivity, quality, and meeting the expected daily efficacies. In this role, you will report to the Machine shop supervisor. This posting is for a conversion opportunity for a pre-identified temporary employee currently working at MKS.

Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities include assignment planning, layout, set-up, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic machines
  • Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions
  • Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances
  • May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions
Required Skills
  • 1+ year of related experience required
  • Requires machine shop experience, ability to add and subtract decimals
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
  • Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for 60% of the time
  • Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level
  • Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $16.70 -27.83 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
