Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Lawrence, MA, is seeking an Assembler 2 to join the Operations team and perform mechanical assembly operations on complex products and subassemblies. You will report to the Operations Manager and contribute to production efficiency.

You will follow work instructions, reading blueprints and specifications, while maintaining quality records and safety standards. The role includes set-ups, testing, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of related experience required.
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions.

  • Assemble complex products, subassemblies, and components according to work instructions, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Determine and/or follow methods and sequence of operations in performing component installation, welding and testing units.
  • Make set-ups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
  • May be responsible for testing equipment and products.
  • Run wash station to clean piece parts and assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly, fit, form, and function issues using established procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and 5S activities.
  • Train and mentor Assembler I and Assembler II employees on assembly methods, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.

A Day in Your Life at MKS: As an Assembler 2 at MKS, Inc. you will partner with the Operations team to perform a wide variety of mechanical assembly operations. In this role, you will report to the Operations Manager.

  • Assemble complex products, subassemblies, and components according to work instructions, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Determine and/or follow methods and sequence of operations in performing component installation, welding and testing units.
  • Making set-ups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
  • May be responsible for testing equipment and products.
  • Running wash station to clean piece parts and assemblies.

Skills You Bring:

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for 80% of the time.
  • Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Operates in a professional office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environment.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average.
Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $16.70 - 27.83 USD Hourly. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
