Job summary

MKS Instruments in Colorado is seeking a machinist 1 for a conversion opportunity from a temporary employee. You will partner with the machine shop team, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and the technical operations teams to maintain productivity and quality.

You will report to the Machine shop supervisor. The role involves reading blueprints and process sheets, setting up and operating various machines, and performing quality checks to meet tolerances.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of related experience.
  • Requires machine shop experience; ability to add and subtract decimals.
  • Able to read blueprints and process sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Assignment planning, layout, set-up, operating and adjusting tools for major conventional or automatic machines.
  • Work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks.
  • Check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances.
  • Identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a machinist 1 at MKS Instruments, you will partner with the machine shop team, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and the technical operations teams. You will be responsible for productivity, quality, and meeting the expected daily efficacies. In this role, you will report to the Machine shop supervisor.

**This posting is for a conversion opportunity for a pre-identified temporary employee currently working at MKS.

You Will Make an Impact By:
  • Responsibilities include assignment planning, layout, set-up, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic machines
  • Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions
  • Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances
  • May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions
Required Skills:
  • 1+ year of related experience required
  • Requires machine shop experience, ability to add and subtract decimals
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
  • Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for 60% of the time
  • Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level
  • Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Operates in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average
Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $16.70 -27.83 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
